MODAL VERBS

Here are some exercises with modals, and some practice with them.

And also some good training for conditionals.

Typical expresions using conditional...
If I could, I would
If there's a will, there's a way
If I were you, I wouldn't do that....
This is the lot for you this year. No more work from me.

THIS IS IT!!! GAME OVER, MOVE UP TO THE NEXT LEVEL

"If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable"
'Si uno no sabe a qué puerto está navegando, ningún viento es favorable' (Séneca)
ó,
'no se trata de llegar, sino de saber dónde se va'

NOW THAT YOU HAVE BECOME REAL 'ADULTS', YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE READY TO...

MEET SÉNECA QUOTING

(Roman dramatist, philosopher, & politician -5 BC - 65 AD-)

"As is your language so is your life"

and, A FEW MORE:

"It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult."
"It is rash to condemn where you are ignorant"

"I do not distinguish by the eye, but by the mind, which is the proper judge"...

MAY I WISH FOR YOU

I HONESTLY -AND HUMBLY- WISH FOR YOU TO ALWAYS HAVE THE INTEREST, EXCITEMENT AND EAGERNESS TO WANT TO 'GO' SOMEWHERE, AND EVEN IF YOU NEVER 'REACH' THE PLACE, TO KNOW WHICH 'PLACE' YOU ARE GOING TO.
(I confess I myself go through stages when I don't know this. But I keep looking!!!)

FAREWELL TO ALL, I'LL SEE YOU IN... LIFE!!! CHEERS!!!

(Proud to be an acquaintance of yours)

A SUGGESTION MADE A PRESENT

This is a suggestion from one of you (I am very much obliged).
I had a great time with it, and I would like to share it with you all
.
FROM YOU, TO YOU
And here's the lyrics for you to sing along with Liza Simpson, if you like...

IT'S FUN!!!
Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy (Hey, what up girl?)
got my glasses- I'm out the door - I'm gonna hit this city (Let's go)
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack
Cause when I leave for the night, I ain't coming back

I'm talking - pedicure on our toes, toes
Trying on all our clothes, clothes
Boys blowing up our phones, phones
Drop-toping, playing our favorite cds
Pulling up to the parties
Tryna get a little bit tipsy

[CHORUS]
Don't stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, I'mma fight
'Til we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don't stop

No- Oh- ooh- oh oh oh
Oh- ooh- oh oh oh

Don't stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, I'mma fight
'Til we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don't stop

No- Oh- ooh- oh oh oh
Oh- ooh- oh oh oh

Ain't got a care in world, but got plenty of beer
Ain't got no money in my pocket, but I'm already here
And Now, the dudes are lining up cause they hear we got swagger
But we kick 'em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger

I'm talking about - errbody getting crunk, crunk
Boys trying to touch my junk, junk
Gonna smack him if he getting too drunk, drunk
Now, now - we goin' til they kick us out, out
Or the police shut us down, down
Police shut us down, down
Po-po shut us -

WHAT LUCK FOR ALL TO HAVE A MOTHER!!!

IN CASE YOU'D LIKE TO DEDICATE A LITTLE TIME TO YOUR MUM ON 'HER' OFFICIAL DAY, HERE'S SOME SUGGESTIONS. HELP YOURSELF!!

M - O - T - H - E - R
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell
"MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.

Howard Johnson (c. 1915)

Only One Mother
Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky,
Hundreds of shells on the shore together,
Hundreds of birds that go singing by,
Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather.

Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the world wide over
.

Mother's Love
Her love is like
an island in life's ocean,
vast and wide
A peaceful, quiet shelter
From the wind, the rain, the tide.
'Tis bound on the north by Hope,
By Patience on the West,
By tender Counsel on the South
And on the East by Rest.
Above it like a beacon light
Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer;
And thro' the changing scenes of life
I find a heaven there.

Super Mom

Mom, you're a wonderful mother,
So gentle, yet so strong.
The many ways you show you care
Always make me feel I belong.

You're patient when I'm foolish;
You give guidance when I ask;
It seems you can do most anything;
You're the master of every task.

You're a dependable source of comfort;
You're my cushion when I fall.
You help in times of trouble;
You support me whenever I call.

I love you more than you know;
You have my total respect.
If I had my choice of mothers,
You'd be the one I'd select!

And finally, Here's a super song by 'The Pretenders' you can sing along with your bros', sis' and Dad to that great lady in your life. Its title is "Hymn to Her" .

Pretenders Hymn to her

let me inside you
into your room
i've heard it's lined
with the things you don't show
lay me beside you
down on the floor
i've been your lover
from the womb to the tomb
i dress as your daughter
when the moon becomes round
you be my mother
when everything's gone

and she will always carry on
something is lost
but something is found
they will keep on
speaking her name
somethings change
some stay the same

keep beckoning to me
from behind that closed door
the maid and the mother
and the crone that's grown old

I hear your voice
coming out of that hole
I listen to you
and i want some more
I listen to you
and i want some more

and she will always carry on
something is lost
but something is found
they will keep on
speaking her name
some things change
some stay the same
